The development of new tools for the evaluation and management of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are promising, but significant challenges and a need for new approaches to patient care still exist. In this session, leading experts will review challenges in traumatic brain injury assessment and management, as well as new advancements in brain injury biomarker testing. Presenters will provide an overview of the current standard of care, including functional testing, and current tools and modalities. Additional issues, such as second impact syndrome, will also be discussed.

1. Examine challenges and shortcomings of current approaches to mTBI evaluation in the emergency department.
2. Learn about advancements in mTBI evaluation.
3. Understand how brain injury biomarker testing can be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the evaluation of suspected mTBI patients.
