2018.12.06 - Concussion as a Craniocervical Injury (Recorded Webinar)
A Robert Sbordone Memorial mTBI/Concussion Lecture recorded webinar featuring Kevin Crutchfield, M.D., Director, Sports Concussion Program, LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine. Aired live December 6, 2018.
Includes 1 ACBIS CEU.
There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating the misdiagnosis of cervical injury for concussion in patients involved in sports collisions and motor vehicle accidents. The two diagnoses share several significant symptoms in common, and headaches related to cervical injuries (occipital neuralgia, instabilities, etc.) can lead to poor sleep, inattention and cognitive decline. Without appreciating symptom causation, attempts at remediation or therapy will be misguided and prove fruitless. This presentation explores the co-occurring conditions of concussion and neck injuries, elucidating the process of differential diagnoses in craniocervical injuries and explaining the rehabilitation treatment plan for each diagnostic category.
