In this David Strauss Clinical webinar, Amy Berryman, OTR, MSHSA, and Karen Rasavage, OTR, CBIST, will explore the role of spatial awareness in visual-vestibular processing. They will discuss how impaired spatial awareness affects functional performance after brain injury and common strategies for incorporating spatial awareness into visual-vestibular interventions in brain injury rehabilitation.

Amy Berryman, OTR, MSHSA is an adjunct professor for the Creighton University occupational therapy program in neurorehabilitation and currently works at Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ.  She has worked throughout the continuum of care in traumatic brain injury for over 20 years, including inpatient, outpatient, and transitional living settings. She has presented extensively on vision rehabilitation in acquired brain injury and is published in the areas of vision, interdisciplinary team approaches to rehabilitation, and vocational rehabilitation. Additionally, she has advanced training in NDT techniques, serial casting, and other modalities to facilitate neuro-muscular recovery. Amy completed her occupational therapy degree in 2000 at the University of Oklahoma, and graduated with her master’s degree in health services administration from Regis University in 2007.  

Karen Rasavage, OTR, CBIST currently works as a Clinical Professional Education Coordinator, Vision Clinic Coordinator, and Living Well with Brain Injury Committee Leader at Craig Hospital.  She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and has worked throughout the acquired brain injury continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient, and transitional living settings. She specializes in collaborating with neuro-optometrists, and places emphasis on integrating occupational therapy concepts such as sensory integration and activity analysis into visual rehabilitation with children and adults following brain injury. She also has specialized training in NDT, Kinesiotaping, and SAEBO applications for enhancing upper extremity function after brain injury. Karen has been published in the areas of interdisciplinary rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and vision.

Registration cancellations must be emailed to customerservice@biausa.org. Refund Eligibility: Webinar registration fees are refundable if submitted no later than 24 hours before the scheduled webinar date/start time. Refunds are subject to a $10 cancellation fee. Cancellations received less than 24 hours before the scheduled webinar date/start time will not be refunded. If you are unable to attend the live webinar, you can request access to the recorded webinar. If we cancel a webinar due to circumstances beyond our control, we will notify attendees with as much advance notice as possible. Attendees will be given the opportunity to transfer their registration to another webinar or obtain a full refund.

Refunds are Not Provided for the Following Reasons: 1. Attendee Technology. It is the responsibility of the webinar attendee to test the computer setup prior to the start of the webinar. If failure with your technology prevents access to the live webinar, you will not be eligible for a refund. If the technical problem is due to our error, we will offer you the choice of access to a copy of the recording or a full refund. 2. Attendee Email. Refunds will not be issued in cases where an attendee did not receive the webinar login instruction email. It is the attendee’s responsibility to contact us if they don’t receive the required login information at least 24 hours prior to the start time of the webinar. 3. Attendee Absence. Attendees who do not participate in the live webinar will not be entitled to a refund.
