Voices of the Omnipresent Shadow

Authoress Alysa Lauren Chesler uses her poetry and artwork to convey the hardship and struggle to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

The consequence of a car accident while driving to the High Sierras for a romantic weekend, the author was in a month-long coma and left facing a life-long struggle from the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI), including learning to swallow, speak, and walk. It took her four years to begin again to write poetry...and four more years to tell her story of struggle and acceptance - a deeply touching and heroic story of recovery and redemption.
