2023.09.06 – Neurologic Music Therapy: Clinical Application of Music for Neurorehabilitation (Live Webinar)

A BIAA-Maine Caregiver Series live webinar featuring Kiera Druhan, MT-BC, NMT. Airs live at 3:00 p.m. ET September 6, 2023.

Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT)™ is the therapeutic application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor dysfunctions due to neurologic disease of the human nervous system. NMT has developed standardized interventions and clinical techniques for the use of music to address non-musical goals such as mobility, speech, language, and areas of cognition. These techniques rely on music perception and production for inducing neuroplastic changes in the brain. This presentation will include a brief overview of the neuroscience of music as well as demonstrate several NMT treatment techniques for a variety of populations. The presenter will also provide several quick and easy ways to integrate music into everyday life to improve or enhance functional recovery.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how NMT can be used to improve mobility, speech, language, and areas of cognition for brain injury survivors.
  • Discuss the different NMT treatment techniques available.
  • Identify ways to integrate music into everyday life to improve or enhance recovery.

Please note that attendance at this webinar does not include ACBIS CEUs.

If you purchase a registration, you will receive an email with attendance instructions the day before the webinar airs. Please make sure to whitelist @biausa.org to ensure you receive the instructions.
